Bosnian Refugee Remembers Arriving in the United States
I hope we will be taking in refugees from Ukraine. And Russia.
In 1993, almost thirty years ago, families were airlifted out of Bosnia to America, in a situation similar to the one faced by families from Ukraine now. I ‘adopted’ a twelve year old from Bosnia into our home.
Nihada and I have never gone back to that time until Afghanistan fell last fall. She and I thought her experience might help others to step up and help the families who were facing what she faced all those years ago. It also helped us to revisit the past.
Have a listen if you have time and hear her story. It’s being played out all across the world right now.
