This is the first year in a number of years that I am without a significant other to put my love focus upon on this day I have tried to love, but never really did.
Then I received this picture early in the morning. My cousin’s daughter, Anya, one of my favorite humans on the planet, filled this up with Hershey’s kisses, to take to her class this wonderful Valentine’s Day. She wanted to share it with me. Or her mom did. No matter. I realized that there are so many different kinds of love. And, how very very lucky I am to have so much of it in my life.
I have an incredibly long list to celebrate today.
Sent this to my college BFF who is a much kinder and patient person than I. “Today on Valentine’s Day, I celebrate our incredible long-enduring friendship and your unending ability to love those not always lovable. 💕”
Yesterday I sent the fabulous, favorite daughter Sarah, about whom I’m not allowed to write, some flowers. I did it yesterday on purpose, the day before VD. But I realize now, I could have sent them today because the strongest love I have for anyone is for her, and it counts as Valentine’s love. I sent tulips, not roses. She sent me a picture of them and a note of gratitude and love. I am glad she will wake up to them this morning.
And, I put together a list of those who I love and appreciate and will reach out to them to celebrate this day of love in one way or another; so many different kinds of love. So much room in all of us for the capacity to love others.
It’s a good day.
Happy Valentine's Day, Christine! Loved your post! xo
